The history of the hammock by the Maya until today. The origin of the hammock is in Latin America where the Mayans built the first hammock about 2000 years ago.

Columbus brought the hammock in Europe, where it became very popular and loved for its use on board ships. Advantage of the hammock was the little space needed for storage and the other replaced the hard bed of seafarers. Another factor that sailors loved the hammock that in a storm wasn't slid out of bed and ground motion avoid nausea.
In the early 19th century in North America, the hammock was still unknown. The first hammocks which made of wood was too narrow and the world showed little interest. Over the years and when hammocks grew surface and with larger wood, increased the popularity of the hammock.
Today in many countries of South America, the hammock is used as the main instrument for sleep. In many other parts of the world, the hammock is a means of relaxation and recreation in the house or garden. Over 100 million people around the world use daily hammock for relaxing and sleeping.
